The goal of the After School Program is to provide quality child care in a school setting, with an emphasis on growth and development. This is accomplished through a daily schedule that includes a nutritious snack, outdoor recreation (weather permitting), as well as a variety of themed Montessori-aligned activities. Each activity is prepared by our GMS faculty and aimed at meeting the specific developmental needs of each child.
For the elementary students, we offer an after-school Study Hall program. The goal of the Study Hall program is to give our oldest students a dedicated, developmentally appropriate space to work and play together. Each day, after a nutritious snack, Study Hall students will have time to work on daily homework tasks and then choose from engaging projects and/or enjoy supervised free time both inside and outside (weather permitting). Elementary students registering for the Study Hall program may utilize the program on an as-needed basis and will be invoiced for usage in half-hour increments up until 6:00 p.m.
Components of the After-School Program
Schedule:
Available on all regular school days and follows the school calendar regarding non-school days, vacations, teacher in-service days, and parent conference days.
Registration is available for 5 days (Monday - Friday). If your family requires a different schedule, please reach out to our Auxiliary Program Manager directly.
Dismissal: Pick-up times are 4:00, 5:00, or 6:00 p.m. (depending on program level). We ask that parents be punctual and consistent in picking up their child. Coming inconsistently or late can cause unnecessary alarm/anxiety in children.
Outdoor Play: Whenever possible, with the exception of extremely cold or wet days, we go outside for some physical exercise. In cold and snowy weather, please make sure your child comes to school in boots and clothing (hat, mittens, scarf, and snowsuit) appropriate for outside play.
Medication: Our policy for administering medication in the After School Program follows the same procedures as during the school day. An emergency medication administration form, signed by both the parent and the physician, is required for prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs. These forms are available through the office and online. Medications should be delivered to the School Nurse.
Billing: Invoicing for this registration will be sent through our FACTS tuition system. For Infant through Primary After School Care, 50% will be due by October 15, 2024 and the remaining balance is due January 1, 2025. Elementary After School Care will be billed monthly in arrears based on usage. If you have any questions about billing, please contact the business office.
