COVID-19 Response

AN IMPORTANT UPDATE ON OUR REOPENING PLANS

As a result of evolving medical and regulatory guidance pertaining to the safe operation of schools during COVID-19, and input from our community, we have re-evaluated the plan we communicated on June 16th, when we expected the school would be in a position to offer fully in-person learning for all programs on September 9th.

Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been and will continue to be tailored to the unique needs of Gladwyne Montessori. More than anything, we want our full community to be back on our beautiful campus in September. However, there is still too much uncertainty surrounding the safe reopening of our school to risk or jeopardize the lives of our students, families, and our teachers. This is particularly impactful on our youngest learners given the health, safety, and regulatory impediments surrounding offering those programs in person.

With the health and safety of our entire community at the forefront of this decision, Gladwyne Montessori's opening will be largely phased by program, beginning on September 9th. This phased approach will enable us to monitor the potential rise of COVID-19 cases in our area, while also ensuring that students and teachers in our school are engaging meaningfully with our 2020-21 online learning platform. If cases in our area remain consistently low through September, our Kindergarten and Elementary classrooms will transition to fully in-person learning on October 5th.

In September, Primary and Elementary students will learn through our Online Plus Model, which:

  • includes five days a week of synchronous and asynchronous learning; and

  • allows for in-person learning to begin right away through personalized, 1:1 and very small group, scheduled in-person sessions focused on instruction and socialization.

In October, we look forward to welcoming all of our Kindergarten through sixth grade students to our campus in small learning pods for five full days per week of in-person learning, with other programs offered as follows:

  • Students in P1 & P2 will continue in the Online Plus Model, with opportunities for individual and small group lessons in person. We will phase in P1 and P2 students in January 2021.

  • Our Montessori Toddler at Home and Parent Toddler programs will continue online.

  • No programming will be available for infants.

INFANT: All children enrolled in the Infant Program will be automatically released from their enrollment contracts and enrollment deposits will be refunded. We will re-evaluate the start of this program in January 2021.

PARENT/TODDLER: All families enrolled in the Parent/Toddler Program will be automatically released from their enrollment contracts and enrollment deposits will be refunded. Families will have an opportunity to enroll in our online Parent/Toddler Program immediately.

YOUNG TODDLER: All children enrolled in the Young Toddler Program will be automatically released from their enrollment contracts and enrollment deposits will be refunded. Families will have the opportunity to enroll in our newly created Montessori Toddler At Home program, designed for a parent or caregiver and their toddler with daily scheduled mini virtual lessons with one of our Montessori credentialed teachers.
