While attending Villanova as an undergraduate majoring in education, Susan discovered the Montessori method of teaching. It coincided with her beliefs about educating children using an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child. Always loving work with young children, becoming a certified Montessori teacher was a natural choice. When she came to Gladwyne Montessori 38 years ago, she fell in love with the concept of our extended day program, La Casa. Over the years, having been afforded the opportunity to develop and shape this program in line with Montessori principles, she applies its values to the area of enrichment activities: one of her greatest joys! Free time is enjoyed through antiquing, reading, hiking and cooking.

Anne Marie came was very excited to join the amazing team of dedicated administrators and educators at Gladwyne Montessori School. Being both a mother and grandmother, Anne Marie knows how important early education is to create independent, creative, confident students and strongly believes in the Gladwyne Montessori mission. Anne Marie enjoys spending her free time with her children and grandchildren as well as spending time reading, relaxing at the beach, kayaking, hiking and being outdoors.

Paul joined the Gladwyne Montessori community in 1994 after having served as a Program Director at a YMCA. He played baseball collegiately and has stayed active in the sport by coaching at three different high schools during his career. He currently teaches baseball at numerous camps and clinics in the area. Paul enjoys spending his free time with his family.

Carrie has been an educator since the 1990s, serving in the public, charter, and independent sectors. Her youngest son attended a Montessori pre-school, which first opened her eyes to the brilliance of Maria Montessori. From 2010-2015, Carrie served as CEO at the Philadelphia Montessori School, where she learned first-hand the value of a Montessori education for all children. Currently, Carrie is pursuing her Montessori Administrator's credential. In her free time, Carrie enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, fitness, and reupholstering furniture!

Ann joined Gladwyne Montessori in the 1989 and continues being the first face you see as you enter the building, because of she believes the faculty and staff are warm and inviting and the children bring her joy. Ann likes to spend her free time with her family. They all enjoy camping and fishing together. She also enjoys yoga, shopping, and working outside around the house.

Jennifer was happy to join Gladwyne Montessori following many years of experience in Montessori schools in NY, NJ, and DE. When she isn't at school, Jennifer enjoys practicing yoga and mindfulness. She also enjoys hiking and enjoying the beautiful natural settings of the Brandywine Valley, animal advocacy, and participating in community theater.

In the 90s, Jimmy was asked by a parent he was working for at the time to help out at the school for a few days. Because of the inviting environment, the friendly parents, and smiling children, those few days never ended. Jimmy used to play soccer, but was no good. Now, he golfs - and still is no good.

Leigh Ann has been an art teacher for the past 12 years. She's run art enrichment classes, summer art clubs, and was formerly the art director at the Avalon Yacht club during the summers. She has always had a passion for the arts and for working with children. Her teaching experience has given her an opportunity to teach at Charter, Catholic, and public schools. Leigh Ann is extremely excited to be a part of Gladwyne Montessori and to use the Montessori Method to teach art. During her free time, Leigh Ann is busy spending time with her husband and three "bonus" children who are active in the Upper Merion School District. She enjoys volunteering with their school activities, photography, interior decorating, traveling, working out, and spending time with family and friends at the beach and bay in Avalon. Leigh Ann also hosts children's birthday parties, face paints and make crafts with them as a Disney Princess. She is bubbly, energetic, fun-loving and enthusiastic with a zest for life.

With her AMS teaching credential from New England Montessori Teacher Education Center, Sue joined the Gladwyne Montessori Primary department as a lead teacher in 2005. After teaching in Montessori classrooms in the Philadelphia vicinity, she was thrilled to join the staff at Gladwyne Montessori because of its fine reputation and natural beauty. In college, Sue majored in Psychology, Religion, and Education; during her time in seminary, she majored in Church History. In her free time, she teaches at her church and also enjoys spending time with her husband and cat, walking around the city, yoga, and reading.

After assisting with Gladwyne Montessori’s Young Explorers Camp during college, Kristen fell in love with the Montessori philosophy and decided to pursue education as a career. At Bucknell University, she studied Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Spanish, having then attained her Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate and gaining experience working in both the Primary and Elementary departments at Gladwyne Montessori. This summer, Kristen completed her elementary Montessori credential from the Princeton Center for Teacher Education. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball, practicing yoga and relaxing at the beach.
