The mission of Gladwyne Montessori School’s Parent Teacher Association is to nurture a positive spirit within the school community and to encourage parents to actively participate in their child’s educational experience while embracing the principles set forth by Maria Montessori.

What is the PTA?
The PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) of Gladwyne Montessori School is a group of volunteer parents who meet once a month to plan and facilitate events for our children and parents. Encouraging parent involvement is our main priority, and through involvement with the PTA, you can explore ways to make a difference in your child’s educational experience. Not to mention that it’s also a great way to meet friends and stay active in the GMS community.

How do I get involved & volunteer?
Come to our kick off PTA meeting, September 17, 2008 at 9 a.m. and join one or more committees. In this newsletter are descriptions of all of our committees. You may select a committee on the enclosed volunteer form that you are interested in and return it to GMS. If you have previously expressed an interest in a committee for this school year we will be in touch with you! We would love your participation, even if it is to help with one event during the year. The parent volunteers truly make our school unique. The children and faculty of our school will absorb your heartfelt dedication.

When are the meetings?
Meetings are held once a month on a Wednesday, either in the morning or evening. Meetings generally last about one hour and are held in the Oasis. Often our own faculty will speak for 15 minutes on parenting topics. It’s a great way to really get to know the teachers.
