| About Rachel Savett |
Rachel was a wonderfully lively and exciting eight-year-old in our
school who died suddenly in May, 2000, of an allergic reaction. In her honor,
and in recognition of her family's many services to the school, the Board voted
to name our new Elementary building for her. |

The tile mural at the entrance to the building honors Rachel's memory. The mural
was made by 2nd through 6th year students in Elementary in the spring of 2002.
Each student and teacher made a square tile in the Germantown studio of Karen
Singer, a professional ceramicist. They represent Rachel's interests and what
we remember about her. The birds in the tree were by sixth year students; the
tree is by one of Karen Singer's professional assistants. The cost of the mural
was covered by members of the Board of Trustees; their names are on the bench
facing the mural.
