  Reeta's Graduation Speech

GMS is the first school I ever went to and, of course, it is the only school I have ever been to. In fact I've been here to see four different Headmasters and Headmistresses. I started in Stepping Stones and my teacher was Mrs. Sheehan. I can't really remember much from stepping stones since I was pretty young. Am I forgetting something? Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you that my name is Reeta R. O. Shrestha and that if you are saying my full name you absolutely must say the middle initials. Well, back to my speech.

I would like to thank all the teachers, staff, and friends who have helped me throughout my years here GMS. When I was in primary my teacher was Mrs. Lanahan. I remember a piece of work where you had to braid the three pieces of yarn. I kept trying to braid it and I kept messing up. Then one day I finally got the hang of it. I was so happy that I put my hair in braids for two weeks afterward. Or at least I tried to. Mrs. Lanahan was a great teacher.

In Lower El my teachers were Mrs. Hartnett and Mrs.Slattery. They were building the new building when I was there. Every day we would come and take notes about the progress of the building. Mrs. Hartnett taught us a lot about space and I really liked those lessons. In one experiment she would tie a bucket full of water to the end of a rope and swing it around in a circle. I always thought it was awesome that the water would stay in the bucket. Mrs.Slattery would always draw cool designs in our spelling books. I would always look up to the sixth graders and they seemed like they were so much older and taller than me. I couldn't wait until I was one. Mrs. Hartnett and Mrs.Slattery were so kind and taught me lots of great things.

When I came into fourth grade my teachers were Mrs. Mehta and Mrs.L. Mrs. Mehta taught us math and science while Mrs.L taught us History and Geography. After school I did science lessons with Mrs. Mehta. On Tuesdays Mrs.L would tell us about history for about thirty minutes. We had the edit every week and we would check it on Friday. We also did the Life Project. Mrs. Mehta left at the end of fifth grade and in sixth grade we had Mr.Nord. About a month or two ago we started the Life Project again. We are also talking a lot about Global Warming this year. Mrs.L gives us book reports and reviews about every week. I learned a lot from Mrs. Mehta, Mrs.L, and Mr.Nord.

I would like to thank my French and art teacher, Madame. Just recently we went to Chanticleer. It was really pretty and I think I made my best drawing there of flowers. I would also like to thank my music teacher, Coco. We went to the Wachovia Center to do a performance and that was great fun. I would like to thank Mr.K for being a really good gym teacher, Mrs. Hunter for teaching me so much about computers, and Mrs. Barclay for helping me with my research. I would like to thank Mrs. Lanahan for being a great teacher, Mrs. Hartnett and Mrs.Slattery for teaching me lots of great things, Mrs. Mehta for helping me learn to love math and science Mrs. L for teaching me loads of grammar and history, and Mr.Nord for continuing to teach me math and science. I would also like to thank my friends for being so nice to me throughout my years here at GMS.

I really like GMS and all of the teachers here and so I would also like to thank my grandmother, Raquel Orendain, because she was very into Montessori and that was why my Mom and Dad for brought me here in the first place.

Reeta will attend Welsh Valley Middle School
