  Crystina's Graduation Speech

Crystina

The day has finally come. Good morning classmates, friends, teachers, and parents. Being at GMS has been a great opportunity. My first year at this school gave me new experiences. I made friends with Tiaura, Bianca, Reeta, and Jaslyn on the first day of school. My teachers were Ms. L. and Mrs. Mehta. I always enjoyed lessons with Mrs. Mehta. She made them fun. I enjoyed Mrs. L.’s lessons too. The one thing I didn’t like was the math corrections. They were the worst things a child could ever think of.

By the middle of the school year, I became friends with the whole class. Everyone turned out to be very nice. The teachers in all of the classes also knew me. They greeted me in the morning, even though I barely knew them. The greetings made me feel welcome.

Toward the end of the year, the upper el went to Camp Onas. It was fun. I still have not overcome my fears of heights, but climbing was fun trying. I especially enjoyed laughing at Nia’s jokes, that she said while she climbed the tree. I had to admit it was terrifying. You slipped almost every time you took a step. I enjoyed my first year a lot.

This past year I was the only sixth grader. I miss my former classmates, but it has still been a great year. I was told that I was suffering from senioritis. I believe so too!   I was Queen of school. I like telling some of the kids what to do, give them lessons, being taught about peoples lives, where people would like to work, and how to accomplish your dreams. I was also taught what my life would be like, after graduating from college. My dreams are to be an architect or open my own store and clothing line.

Camp Onas was fun this year too! It wasn’t as funny as last year, but I had a great time. The worst part was the high ropes course. I had to walk across the log with nothing to hold on except the rope coming from the harness.
On June 3,2006, I went to New York City for my class trip with Mrs. Mehta and my mother. To eat we went to the Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory. The shrimp was delicious and so was the dessert. I also went to see the Cirque Soliel. My favorite part was the midget’s performance. It was amazing to see how well they could balance. The worst part of the trip was it rained on us. We were soaked. Luckily I had a dry jacket so when the show started and the air conditioning came on my mom and Mrs. Mehta were shivering and I was relaxing. Later on that day we got to the train station and our train was delayed an hour. Bad things happened but I still enjoyed the trip.
This year has been quite successful and has given me lots of good experiences. I will always remember this school and I hope you will remember me, too!

I would like to give thanks to my teachers, Mrs. L, and Mrs. Mehta, my French/art teacher Madame Denise, my gym teacher Mr. K., both my reading teachers, and a special thanks to my music teacher Coco, for pushing me to do better in music. I also would like to give a special thanks to my family for supporting me. Thank you.
