Nicole's Graduation Speech
I’m very excited that I can finally make my speech after 6 long years. Here it goes.
When I was in first grade I was in Meg and Lois’s class. On my first day I met Ella Cohen, Emily Red, and Julia Fuchs. We called ourselves the 4 musketeers. Of course we didn’t have muskets or swords but we couldn’t think of any other name that would do. Besides who would want to be called the 4 blind mice?
Anyway, I remember that in Meg’s class on your birthday you would walk around a candle represented as the sun and every time you go in a circle you would have to say something you remembered in that year. I also remember work that involves beads: bead frames, Bead chains, snake games and others. In first grade I also found out about a thing called famous persons day. You would choose a famous person and think of three facts about him or her and the audience has to try to guess who you are.
Second and third grade grew more fun each year I spent in Meg and Lois’ class. Thank you Meg and Lois for making 1st, 2nd & 3rd grade fun.
The next year I went to Upper El. It was fun. Mrs. L was my teacher. There were only five kids in the class! Meredith Noll, who had been in Mrs. Hartnett’s class, became my new friend. David Corenswet who was with me in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades went to Haverford Friends. It was so much fun having an all girls class. There was a new girl named Nia Hall. She found friends easily. There were a lot of different works: less work that involves beads and more history and math lessons than lower El. Also on famous persons day you had to do a report on the person that you chose. Later, after January, David came back to fourth grade. I remember we went on a field trip to the University of Pennsylvania Museum to see the Greek things and another field trip to go see The Little Prince and then have lunch at Mrs. L’s HOUSE!
Fifth grade and was equally fun as fourth grade. There were 12 kids in the class. Mr. Nord was our assistant teacher. He was nice but gave too many math corrections. A couple times we tried to steal the teacher’s math book just to see the answers, but we never got that far.
In sixth grade there were 23 kids in the class. Mr. Nord went to go teach the younger kids so we got another teacher. Her name is Supriya Mehta. She gave us cool science lessons. I would like to thank Mrs. L, Mr. Nord and Mrs. Mehta for all they taught me. I’ve learned many interesting things.
The other things I like about this school that some schools don’t have is after school specials like quilting and cooking. And I always look forward to the end of the year camping trip to Camp Onas. We get to do the high ropes courses including the zip line and go canoeing. This year all the sixth graders went to the Baltimore Aquarium. It was so much Fun!!! We saw A dolphin show and lots of other cool creatures. We got to ride to the aquarium in a LIMO!!!
I would like to thank:
J Mr. K for gym class and his jokes.
J All the music teachers for their help.
J Sally and Mrs. Harris for helping me understand vocabulary more.
J Madame Denise for art and French.
And all the other people who helped me get this far.
