Gwen Shangle
Gwen brings 25 years of experience to Gladwyne from teaching in Montessori classrooms, mentoring teachers, guiding families, working on curriculum and program designs, and directing a teacher training center. Gwen enjoys presenting to parents and teachers and sharing her passion of Montessori as a way of life. Gwen also has raised a "Montessori child", now in college, and is excited to dedicate her empty nest time to Gladwyne's community. In her free time, Gwen enjoys the outdoors, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with her pets and family, as well as volunteering for arts groups. Gwen also serves on the Board of the Deep Time Journey Network, which promotes the principles of cosmic education, a key aspect of Montessori education.

Rachel Weaner
Rachel joined Gladwyne Montessori after working in newsroom editing and most recently for an environmental consulting firm. As she was a teaching assistant in high school for a first grade class and a tutor throughout college - present, Rachel always considered pursuing education and teaching as her career, instead of journalism. Now at Gladwyne, she gets to put her design, editing, writing, and communication skills to good use, while still getting the chance to interact with students and become involved in the community! In her free time, Rachel enjoys hiking with her dog, painting and writing, getting crafty, exploring new places, as well as spending time with friends and family.
